In my opinion, it's a nice place to meet friends instead of working.
I've had two business meetings here recently. The coffee is excellent, although the wait for said drink can be a bit long. You also want to avoid sitting near the pick up area as people tend to congregate there while they wait for their beverages.
I just can't give you more than two stars. It blows my mind that every time I'm here, there are at minimum 5-6 People working the counter. Yet, it takes at least 10 minutes to be served a latte. Yes, the latte is good. But no better than other local artisan coffee shops where I can at least be served a smile as every cup at Black Dog is served with a side of disdain and pretentiousness. The staff is not friendly...well to the customers that is. They are quite chummy with one another as they chat and forget there is a line to the door.
They have fabulous european bread! Pastry looked great but I went there after lunch so I didn't get it. Instead, my friend and I got Earl grey eclair and lemon tart with ice coffee. The filling of the eclair was so good with just enough of sweetness. And the shell was perfect! I can't wait to go back to try their food and pastry next time! Personally I think it is better than the bakery at the river market. :)
Your cafe has all the right parts for a perfect experience... unfortunately, you are missing it.
This is my all time favorite coffee shop ever. The blended coffee drinks are heavenly and the atmosphere is comfy and awesome. Everything is fresh and homemade and I highly recommend it. My personal favorite drink is a blended white chocolate and raspberry drink, which I like to call white rose!
I was shocked by the number of people when I came in. I was looking for a quiet place to work and decided to leave. This is not the traditional coffee place in my mind. But, I changed my mind. It's a large coffee place, but it's still crowded. I believed this was a special place and wanted to explore it. I was happy that I chose to stay here. I was satisfied by the pastry and drink I had.
The bakery is over cooking the pastries. They are not delicate and flaky. They lack flavor and are dry.
