I've been here many times for a variety of reasons and have always had a great experience.
No complaints about the facility, staff or service itself, but I had a chest x-ray while there. I was not aware, and was not informed, that the radiology department is part of Shawnee Mission Hospital and it was billed as hospital outpatient for a total of $756. My portion of it was $485. My insurance pays 100% of x-rays and labs done in the doctor's office, with no deductible or copay. Imagine my shock at getting a bill for almost $500!!!
I have been going to this office and the same doctor for 12 years, my husband is also a patient as is our son. It can be a bit of a struggle to get an appointment these days but they're happy to work with you to the best of their abilities. And I can't heap enough praise on Dr Ruble! Amazing physician!
I am an employee at this office and it is 100% about the patients. In response to the gentleman stating he had X-ray in office and was charged an astronomical amount, I believe he is commenting on the wrong facility. We do not have, nor have we ever had, an X-Ray machine.
To their credit, upon speaking with the customer service manager and explaining the situation, they did write off my portion of the bill, but I don't think that is the norm. They should make it VERY clear to patients that x-rays are charged as an outpatient service by the hospital, especially since it makes a BIG difference with a lot of insurance companies.
What shocked me even more is two weeks earlier I had an x-ray taken at urgent care. The TOTAL cost was $66.00. Not sure how they can get away with charging over $750, other than, as the customer un-service agent I spoke to, explained, "We are a hospital," as if that gave then the right to charge over 10x what the urgent care center did. I didn't have the x-ray taken in a hospital. I was in a doctor's office.
